Let it snow!!

This morning we were awaken by the phone ringing to tell us the kids had a two hour delay for school...to this the kids jumped up and looked out the window...SNOW!!!!!!!
We did not know that snow was even in the forecast so we were very surprised and excited!!!
The kids were out playing at 7:15! Look at the second picture, so bright orange from the sun shining on the pretty fall leaves still hanging leaves on the tree!!

* I was super excited to wake up Emily and tell her (She slept past the phone call). She has been asking to move to PA everyday because she is convinced they will have TONS of snow! She insists we move there before "winter time"!
So...I woke her up and told her that winter had brought her an early present and she should look outside. She jumped up, looked outside and yelled "SNOW"!!!!!

"Is it Christmas?" NO HONEY NOT YET...
"Did Daniel bring this snow for me?" NO HONEY, ITS JUST A EARLY PRESENT FROM WINTER TIME!

What a wonderful early gift!

(Daniel is Emily's cousin whom she loves beyond words and I think she thinks that he has snow everyday too!)

Katelyn and Jacob spent the morning before school sliding snow shovels around the yard and filling up a cooler with snow! Emily later saved the cooler from the sun when the kids were at school and emptied it into our freezer!! HA!HA!

Deep thoughts...with Emily....

PART ONE:
(Emily) Mom, I don't want to eat Turkey on Thanksgiving.
(ME) Why?
(Emily) Because he's a turkey made from paper and I had to make a disguise for him so that he would be safe.
(Me) Well, that was a craft for school babe that turkey was not real.
(Emily) I know, but the turkey we eat is a real bird and I don't want to kill him and eat his legs.
(Me) What do you think we should eat instead?
(Emily) Pancakes and ice cream!

PART TWO:
(Emily) Santa doesn't want us to know who he is because then everyone would ring his door bell right mom?
(Me) Yes, if people knew who he was and found out where he lived than I think people would be going to his house asking for gifts ALL YEAR!
(Emily) Well, I know who he is! I know him!! He is a pleasantly plump man with a big red coat with a white thing on top, big black boots and white whiskers! I know him mom!!

PART THREE:
(Me) Emily wash your hands before you come out of that bathroom please.
(Emily, walking out of the bathroom naked) I don't need to wash my hands, I didn't touch anything! I didn't wipe so my hands didn't touch my privets and I didn't even pee in the potty, I peed on the floor!

PART FOUR:
(Emily at lunch today) So you like to chew? How about chewing on my fist?
...this is from Kunfu Panda

PART FIVE:
(Emily whenever anything bad happens) Don't blame me....my hands are clean!

I took the kids to the park a couple weeks back to get some pics with the fall leaves...these are them!

From the mouth of a four year old...

Laying in bed with Emily last night this was our conversation...

Mom, you know what the bestest part of your body is?

What honey?

Your booty tucks because it helps you to poop things out, like corn and apples.

You know what the bestest, bestest part of your body is?

no honey, what?

Your legs, because they hook onto your booty tucks so that you can sit down on the toilet and chairs and couches.

You know what the bestest, bestest, bestest part of your body is mom?

No honey, what do you think it is?

Your arms, so that you can pick things up and hug people!!

STUFF...

1. Jacob lost his tooth!!! He was so excited!! It happened at 6:00am on Monday morning. He woke up and just yelled that it fell out. No big deal, no blood, no pain, and now he is ready for tooth number two to fall out which will most likely happen in the next week or so.

2. When Jacob woke up Tuesday (today) morning he came in our room at around 5:30am and said the tooth fairy did NOT come. I was half awake and told him to go check again. He left and never came back in so I got up to go and check on him. He was awake, as was Katelyn. I said so, did you find anything under your pillow? He said Yeah, I found a five dollar bill folded into a paper airplane! I said WOW!! He said Yeah, kinda suspicious!! I said what, what do mean?
Well, he says, we have been making a lot of paper airplanes lately and dad is really good at it, so maybe HE is the tooth fairy, and YOU told me to go and check again when I told you I didn't find anything, so maybe YOU are the tooth fairy!!
To this, I stood stunned, speechless, heart about to break!! OH NO!! But then....
Katelyn says, yeah and we think Santa is kinda suspicious as well, because you never see him, yet you get what you want, and you have an alarm system. Plus you and Dad NEVER let us put the video camera up to try and catch him!!
OH NO times ten!!!!!!
Needless to say, me and John have some smart talking to do! HELP US all you parents who have been through this already!

3. When reading books to Emily the other night she is sitting on my lap and I notice that every time I am ready to change the page, she licks her finger and rubs it on the page. Nothing more, just licks it and rubs the page! At first I am just grossed out and think WHY is she doing that? Then I realize, oh, she is licking her finger like I do to turn the page!
so cute to see that little finer all slobbery being wiped on the pages! (once I figured it out)

4. Katelyn is obsessed with knowing who I voted for! She will stop at nothing to find out!! Trying to trick me and catch me slipping up. Me and John have explained to them that it is a personal choice and something you should keep to yourself. She even tried again to get it out of me right before I tucked he into bed by saying "in the morning we will know who the new president is right mom, hope your guy wins, who is that again that you voted for?"

5.Emily is starting to really sound out words and try to spell things on her own. Most of the time she only has one or two letter for the actual word, but so exciting to see he putting it all together!

A Indian, A swamp monster and a flower fairy princess...

Halloween was a blast this year. All the kids were very excited about what they chose be this year and had a big helping hand in making the costumes come to life. Katelyn wanted to be a realistic Indian, not flashy and a blue line across her face was a must as it meant that she was "unmarried"!!
Jacob wanted to have snakes and bugs all over his swamp monster costume and they looked super cool until...they ALL fell off as we put ON the costume before trick or treating!! Emily wanted to be a fairy, so I decided to use an old dress up outfit and revamp it into a flower fairy. She helped pick out all the flowers with me and put them on. She kept calling herself a "crystal, flower ballerina fairy princess"!! She was sooooo excited every time she went to a house and someone said she was CUTE! It was so cute! They RAN hard for about the first 30 minutes and then by about half way through the neighborhood they were ALL ready to head for home.

This I think was the first year that we had "outsiders" (people not in the Fam) come over to the house for Halloween dinner (sloppy joes and a ton of other fixins). Our good friends the Pughs came over with their girls. Katelyn's friend Anna came over and we met Jacob's friend Ian along the way so each of the kids had a friend to walk with. Fun for them and us as we had grown ups to chat with. Grandma Tina and Uncle Brad also came along, making the whole day complete!!

Each of our kids got a ROCK in their bags AGAIN. No idea how that happens, but they really LOVE it! They actually look for it.
The morning after trick or treating they always sort the candy into groups and pick out the items they dont like, trade eachother and share the things that me and John like!!
This year they had a grand plan that they would set up a stand outside in front of the house and have a sale of the things that they didnt like. There target consumer would be adults who dont get to trick or treat and who have kids that dont share!
.25 cents for big candy (bite size candy bars) and .10 cents for small items (flavored tootsie rolls)

Firsts...

Jacob has his first loose tooth!! We are sooo excited, but he is kinda scared! Not sure what to expect at this point he is a little nervous! It is more than a little wiggly at this point, we actually think he might loose it within the next day or two...if we can get him to wiggle it around! It really started to bleed this morning when he was eating breakfast and that kinda started the whole scared thing. Katelyn has been a big help in making him understand that most of the time by the time a tooth falls out you cant feel a thing, and that it wont hurt! He is very excited about the fact that the tooth fairy is coming to visit soon, Katelyn told him how she got $5.00 for her first lost tooth!

As soon as that little tiny thing comes out, I will post pictures!
