Snow day!!

The kids had Monday off for MLK day and then Tuesday we got what I guess you can call snow, and so they got Tuesday off of school as well.
They were so cute, they made snowmen and angels in the driveway because there wasn't even enough snow to cover the grass! They shoveled every inch of the driveway and sidewalk to make a "pile" of snow which they loaded up into the "coldest spot they could think of", the sand box!!
They had a good time outside for almost two hrs before coming in to warm up!! we even tried sledding down the driveway, but that didn't work out!!

Why does he have to swear?

Today me and the kids sat and watched the Inauguration for almost an hour. They were really into it and asked all kinds of questions about people they saw, words that were used and why the prayer lasted for so long!
Jacob went upstairs after a while and I didn't know until about 30 minutes later that he was reading his copy of the constitution that John got for him on one of his trips. Jacob said he didnt understand how "a key could be divided equally"!! We'll have to read that part again...together!! :)

Do they realize how big of a day this is in History? Most likely not, but my hope is that they will remember a little part of this when they are older and the words they heard today somehow inspire them to do great things and know that WE ALL play a part in our own history, we all have to make choices that will better our lives!

Winter wonderland!

Last weekend we took the kids and Mom to Hawks nest and did some snow tubing!! It was a two hour drive and the up a super big mountain! When we reached almost to the top of the mountain it seemed as though we were transported into a winter wonderland! Snow magically started to fall and every tree was covered in white!! It was so beautiful!!
We got our passes and had 1 hr and 45 min to tube. John was thinking the kids would never make it that long, as it was only about 29 degrees outside.
Emily did not hesitate to say she was going alone down the hills, but quickly changed her mind when she saw them. She went with me most of the time but then decided she could go it alone!
Jacob went with John most of the time but about 1/2 hour left he decided to go it alone also, he was all about it, trying to "not hang on" and "do tricks"!! At one point, I swear he was hanging on with only his foot!!
Katelyn was by far the biggest trooper!! She went down alone the whole time and lugged her heavy tube around by herself too! She loved it!! Me and her and Grandma went down every hill!!
It was so much fun enjoying the Family time in the snow, we will have to do it again soon!!

Rain, rain go away!!!

Can I just say how much I want the rain to stop!! I WANT THE RAIN TO STOP A LOT!!!!!
It seems as if it has rained more this winter that the entire time we have lived in NC!! Okay, a bit of a stretch I am sure but having to let the dog out front instead of out back because its a swamp and then having to wipe her completely off before letting her back in is starting to bug me!! She went buck wild yesterday because she has been inside so much lately! She started chewing on things. Something she has not done for some time!!! She chose the chair in the office, the girl scout flag and a map!!! Today I took her for a super long walk around the entire hood in hopes that some of that energy would escape her and she would just lay down and stop for one second!! It worked!! So then I took her for another walk with Emily who was super excited the rain stopped for a bit so she could rider her bike she got from Santa!!
The wind got so bad today that it blew the umbrella out of our patio table and I had to run outside in my socks IN THE MUD AND RAIN to get it before it blew next door. trying to fold that thing back up and get it put away I must have looked like those "nannies" on Mary poppins that just start flying off in the wind!! HA!HA! I am sure I was screaming (even though noone was outside to help me) The wind also blew over a little table we have outside and broke Emily's pot that she made me!! BOO HOO!! :( Hate that!!
On a brighter note, we have been playing games everyday and that has been fun!! We also saw a rainbow after the rain stopped this afternoon!! Tried to get a picture but when I got back with the camera, it was gone!
I think its going to be sunny Thursday!! HOPEFULLY!!!

Happy New Year!!

Emily and Great Grandpa John

WOW! Christmas break just flew right on by and today the kids went back to school, John went back to work and I am back on the blog!! :)

We had a great Christmas, the kids were very excited and loved all the gifts and Family being around!! We went to Kentucky to visit Johns parents for a couple days so that was really nice!

Favorite gifts:
Katelyn~ I-pod and camera
Jacob~ nintendo DS and guitar
Emily~ new bike and gumball machine

The best gift for me and John was seeing the kids just smile for days! They truly had a great time.
Wish we could have seen more of the Family though!!
