Old Baldy!!

Katelyn was assigned the "bald head" light house for her school project. First she made a base from cardboard (three different size octagons) and used the hard part of a pant hanger to sturdy it in the middle. The she cut strips to form the octagon and then paper mache'd it. After it dried she painted it and added windows (six) and a door. Turned out great!!

Do you notice something different??

So Thursday morning we took a very excited Katelyn to get braces!!
She was so excited and brave and just really happy about the whole thing, she really amazes me!
It went a lot faster than I thought it would and she said it didn't hurt a bit, except for the thing they used to keep her mouth open.
She took some Motrin that night and again in the AM but hasn't asked for any tonight so I think she is good to go!
She will only wear them for about 9 months!! We think she looks sooooooo darn cute with them on!!

Imagination??

Emily comes in from playing today and says, ( very sad, almost crying)

"Mom, I am not playing with Jacob anymore because I want to play being his girlfriend. Not the kissing kind or the marry kind, just his girlfriend but he said he broked up with me"!!

So, I went out and asked Jacob, "Did you break up with Emily"??

He said "yes, she said she wanted to invite me over for dinner"...

This game Emily call's, HANDSOME HUSBAND AND PRETTY LIFE!!

Happy Birthday Jacob!!!!

Sorry it took so long for these pics ( His birthday was on March 7th) but I could not get them off the camera for some reason!!

Jacob had a great 8TH birthday!! He chose to just spend the day home with the family and lucky for all of us it was a beautiful day!! So hot in fact that Jacob said it felt like LAVA outside!! He only played catch outside for a few minutes and even declined a trip to the driving range because of the heat!! What is that boy going to do in the summer??
Jacob wanted to have a cookout for dinner so we had steaks on the grill and they were YUMMY!! For his cake, Dad and I worked together to make what we think was a perfect YODA cake!! It was a surprise for Jacob and he LOVED it!!

He makes all holidays seem so special because he just has the best manners and is so thankful for simple things like being together!! Cant count how many times he told us that he loved us and that he had the best birthday ever!!!

To catch a Leprechaun!!!

My three little Leprechauns!!

This is a picture from the magazine, to show what we were going for!!

The kids had grand ideas of making a trap for the Leprechaun's who usually come to the house on St Patrick's day and make a mess!! They also however wanted to make a treasure box to see if the Leprechauns would fill it for them!! Hmmmmm, trap them first and not treasure!! Anyway, the above pics are the trap we made. The kids just had a ball putting it all together and I think, did a really great job!! they enjoyed some yummy "green" milk in the morning and were very happy to find treasure in the box they made and sat by the light of the moon!!

Randoms....

Look Mom, I played hair salon with Abby!! One afternoon Emily decided she was going to play with Abby and took her upstairs to "dress her up". The above picture is the result. Abby actually didn't mind at all, but Emily was a bit sad when Abby shook and half the clips came off!! The below picture is what happened when I asked Emily to go upstairs and get me something to put in her hair before school!! Notice the "lipstick"!!!

Pictures of Jacob and Harrison, the little boy I watch over during the week. Jacob has taken quite a fancy to Harrison and thinks he would be the best little brother ever. he calls him "master Yoda"!! I am very glad that even though WE will not be having any more children, Jacob is still able to enjoy this special time with a little baby! It just so cute to watch him interact with Harrison!!

Katelyn and her Girl Scout troop participated in "Thinking day" and represented China. All the troops had to present a flag for the parade, a tri-fold poster board about the Country they were assigned, a stamp to stamp others girls passports as they came around and a food sample. We choose fortune cookies as our food sample. The all did a wonderful job and were very proud!!
The other picture is of Katelyn's Valentine box she made for school to collect all her Valentines!
She loves that box!!! Beautiful!!

Science fair...

This year for the science fair Katelyn decided (last minute) to do the "Mold in a moist chamber" experiment!! So she took three types of bread we some paper towels put them in plastic bags, zipped them closed and set out to watch the mold grow and grow.

Mind you we only had exactly one week to do this project because we never got the proper paperwork from school and Katelyn never mentioned it to us that it was coming up due!! So, We were banking on the fact that the internet was correct and we would start to see the mold growth within 3-5 days! She used homemade white bread, store bought white and wheat.
She notice mold on the towels after the third day but no mold on the bread until the fifth day!
It was really nasty though!!

She learned all about preservatives and how the moisture affects food.
She earned her "participation ribbon" but has yet to present her project to the class so we are not sure what grade she will get yet.

It was a lot of fun going to the school to see all the kids projects! Some very cool things on display!

Jacobs Second grade class did a test to see if the children could tell the difference in soda's that were not labeled, AFTER they had reported on which one they liked the best!
Most kids could not find the soda they had picked!! Jacob said he likes Pepsi best but thought the coke was pepsi when he tasted them!!
It was a very cute test!!
