The Monion, By Jacob age 8 (10-13-09)

One day I was in Africa taking pictures. I saw lions, Monkeys and Donkeys, and even some Alligators. But then I felt a chill in my throat. I drank some water. That helped out with the chill. Two seconds later, Mom and me saw it. It was so cool!!I have decided to call in The Minion.

We took a picture of it and looked at it. It had a Monkey head, a lions main, a Monkey's tail and a Lion body. Well, I wonder if it eats meat. No, No, No, fruit. No wait, meat covered fruit. Yay, he must eat that. "Can we feed him some Mom?" "Ok" she said.

He must live in Africa because he is eating right next to a herd of Lions eating peacefully. Oh wait, now he is going close to us! "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Wait a second, he is NICE!!

"Well mom" I say, "can we keep him please?" Mom said "well, okay"
In three hours we were back home playing. "Hey, whats his name?"

open your ears and you will hear...

Emily, talking with her babies before she went to play legos with Katelyn and Jacob...
"I am going to play now, if any bad guys come and try to get Mommy, kick them in the niblets!!!"

Jacob, while in the bathroom giving Katelyn's fish a funeral... "I'm sorry Katelyn, I keep saying what is your fishes name, because I really don't remember. How many fish do I really know? I don't know what fish names are, I thought Goldie sounded good"

Emily, "Katelyn, just do it! I am a tom boy and I really want that tattoo of a skull with fire on my back. Make it really big so it covers my whole back and write ROCK STAR under it!! Then can you make the white swan on my arm?"

Various ramblings when they found a HUGE wolf spider... "Lets put it in a carbon freeze" "yeah, like Han Solo" "we can collect other bugs and put them in carbon freeze too" "Then we can have people pay to come look at all the bugs" "do you think Mom will let us put them in the freezer?" "we'll use the outside freezer, because bugs really should be outside"

Mother's Day

Mother's day, is looking around the house after I have said "I WILL NOT CLEAN TODAY" and smiling at...
* tooth paste all over in the sink, it means they are brushing
* soap all over the mirror, walls and floor, it means they are washing
* dirty clothes on the floor, it means they put clean ones on at some point
* apple peels in the couch cushions, it means they chose something good to eat
* grass, sticks, and rocks on the kitchen counter, it means they got some fresh air
* three sets of little shoes in the middle of the floor, it means they play TOGETHER
* A playroom filled with glue sticks, scissors, paper crayons, and about 1 whole garbage bag full of very tiny cut up pieces of paper, it means they spent a whole lot of time and thought and made me the cutest Mothers day gifts EVER, with the help of Daddy!!

The awful dust bowl, By Katelyn Centers

It happened so quick, I thought it was a dream. You would have never thought it would happen today. Me, my brother and my Father were out in the field plowing the wheat, when all of a sudden great big black clouds rolled in. It looked as if we would never see the sun again! I felt a slight breeze on my arm, I turned to the horizon on my left and saw it, it was as big as the city of Chicago!!
It was the dust bowl! My Father grabbed my hand and yelled "RUN"! I started running toward the house, my brother right behind me. Right as we entered the front yard, the dust filled the air around me. My brother and I covered our eyes with our hands and ran into our house, and shut the front door!
My Mom was stuffing old towels into the window cracks and my little sister was sitting in a corner of the room, looking like she had seen a ghost! I went over to comfort her. My Brother and Father sat at the kitchen table. We Sat, listening, to the sound of the dust blowing past our run down little house for what seemed like hours.
Finally the storm stopped. My Family all looked relieved. That was the moment I started writting this entry in my diary. That was the day of the dust bowl!

Jessica. By Katelyn age 10 1/2 (have to put that in)

I own a baby doll that is of great value to me but isn't worth a lot of money. I have had my baby doll since I was one year old and lived in Michigan. I got it as a gift for my first birthday and have kept it ever since. She is a girl and her name is Jessica, because I liked that name when I was one. She sleeps with me every night and in the morning I put her on my bed in between my two pillows. My mom got a sewing machine for Christmas and said she will sew a new body for Jessica because she has so many tears in her.
When I grow up and have children, if one of them is a girl, I will let her have Jessica. Jessica isn't worth much money, but she is worth a lot to me!

Reindeer facts

Reindeer Facts, by Jacob Centers Age 8

Reindeer are really cool. First , Reindeer are also called Caribou. Second, the Reindeer's life span is about ten years long in the wild. Next, the Reindeer can grow up to four feet tall.
Also they can grow to be six feet long. Did you know that reindeer are plant eaters? Both male and female have antlers. The reindeer are domesticated in Europe, and the hooves are really wide.
Well, tell your friends about these facts and they will think you are a genius!!

Winter Break

Winter Break
By Katelyn centers Age 10 (challenge was to not use the same word twice)

I love winter break.
Building snowmen is lots of fun.
Mine has a carrot nose.

Sledding down the sparkly snowy hill, chilly wind whips my hair back.
Hats cover children's heads as they sip hot chocolate with me.
